Celebrate George Washington Day with the Warwick Historical Society! Join us for Picnic in the Park on July 20th in Lewis Park from 1pm-4pm shortly after our George Washington Day 5K finishes. Bring your family & friends, pack a picnic basket, and enjoy an afternoon of outdoor fun, activities and a pop-up performance by the circus/aerialist group, 2toFly: aka Franklin & Jojo with Special Guest Elizabeth Munn.

The highlight of the day is sure to be the" I Cannot Tell a Lie - Best Cherry Pie in Warwick" baking contest, featuring celebrity judges and fantastic prizes for the winners. Slices of pie will be available for purchase after the judging, with all proceeds supporting the Warwick Historical Society. Don't miss this festive community celebration! *Picnic & Games will be weather dependent.

Bakers! Think you’ve got the best cherry pie recipe around?! Prove it:

No fee or pre-registration is required, and participants must be adults (Age 18 and older).

Guidelines for the Cherry Pie Baking Contest:

● On the day, pies should be checked in at The 1810 House (80 Main Street) between 10:00 am-1:00pm.
(Note - late entries will be turned away.)
* Please note that the official Contest Entry Form MUST also be attached to your baked pie. This form is available to pickup at the 1810 House (80 Main Street) Monday-Friday from 9am-2pm or download HERE.
Pie Baking Contest rules:

● Each pie must be prepared & baked by the individual submitting the pie entry for judging.

  • This contest is for amateur bakers only -- no professional bakers may enter this competition. (A professional baker is defined as someone who works for a bakery, works for or owns a catering company, or sells pies).

  • Only Double Crust Pies will be accepted - no Crumbles, Crisps or Bettys allowed.

  • Crusts & filling must be made from scratch. No store-bought crust, dough & each pie must have a bottom crust & a top crust.

  • No other fruits may be added (added juices are ok).

  • Please bake in a disposable pie tin or plate. The return of plates cannot be guaranteed.

  • Please do not write your name on the pie tin. Your entry will be assigned a number at registration.

  • The finished pie cannot contain raw/uncooked eggs (white or yokes).

  • An ingredient list, MUST be attached to your baked pie.

  • After judging is completed, pies will be sold by the slice.
    All proceeds from the pie baking event will be donated to the Warwick Historical Society.
